Bug #2187
closedTYT TH-9800
100%
Description
1/ When double clicking on a channel's frequency field in the main channel table view (to enter a new frequency), an 'illegal frequency' (or similar) message box appears as the default value is set to '000.0000'. You cannot access the frequency feild until this error box is closed. i.e Double clicking on the frequency field should highlight the feild and allow you to enter a new/valid frequency regardless of what is in this box. The illegal frequency message should only be displayed if an invalid frequency is entered.
2/ Despite entering NFM into the mode field, it is not actually written into that memory entry when writing to the radio. I have confirmed that the TYT software does set this field correctly.
3/ The TH-9800 allows three receiver IF filter bandwidths (Wide, Mid & Narrow) for all receive modes including AM. There is no provision within Chirp to adjust these. There is provision to adjust TX deviation though.
AM voice reception is actually best with the Mid setting, rather than the default Wide setting.

Disregard point 3 above at this point in time.
There is no 'mid' IF filter setting in the TH-9800, only wide and narrow.
You can select the Narrow IF filter for AM mode, but it sounds aweful..
There is something strange going on with the definition of NFM/FM and AM, but I need more time to work out what it is. There are also two standard FM modes available in Chirp along with NFM and AM, for some reason.

Modes have two problems currently.
Radio has (at least) 3 FM TX deviations (WIDE, MID, NAR) although manual still mentions only wide and narrow.
Looking at a radio image provided by Mats, I see that there another possible position for this field int he radio memory.
This causes an error during channel parsing which will result in an "ERROR" displayed on the channel and grey it out.
Currently investigating..

AM voice reception is actually best with the Mid setting, rather than the default Wide setting.
Can you confirm which menu/channel setting controls the AM RX filter BW ?

Change to mode wont take effect when in edit panel, due to deviation setting being there too and having competing setting.
Submitting a patch.
