Description

Ubuntu 14.04
Chirp works great with my two UV5r radios. With my new BF-F8HP radio I get this error on initiating a radio download: RadioError: Failed to communicate with radio: device reports readiness to read but returned no data (device disconnected?)

The radio communicates fine on two different Windows 10 machines.

Bob,

Are you sure the 2-pin plug is fully seated in the radio?

I'm sure the 2-pin is fully in. It works on the very same (dual-boot) machine running Windows 10. The Linux version times out immediately with the error : RadioError: Failed to communicate with radio: device reports readiness to read but returned no data (device disconnected?
Odd. My two UV5R radios don't have this problem.

I also forgot to mention, when I get the error, the radio resets itself.

solved I discovered that the latest kernel update for ubuntu 14.04 breaks the serial usb port. I booted into the previous kernel version via grub and all is well.

Is there a resolution to thread #2889? I just did the updates of Linux Elementary OS, (UBUNTU) now at 3.13.0.65 and the updates appear to have broken "CHIRP" as well. Thru GRUB I too loaded 3.13.0.57 and it works again. (Thank you Bob Grimes) Don WA4ZFN
