Description

Hi,

in Fedora we are trying to deliver stable software. We have there chirp-0.4.1 which is quite out-dated. Could you make or tag new stable release? Snapshots are not ideal for downstream distribution. There is Fedora bugzilla:

thanks & regards

Hi Jaroslov,

We're not doing releases anymore. It just doesn't make sense with our development process. This works just fine with Ubuntu because we generate the packages and upload to the PPA during every nightly build process. I don't (try to) do this with Fedora because the last survey I did indicated that there was little or no demand for Fedora packages.

If there is something I can do to better enable you to use the snapshots, please let me know.

Hi Dan,

thanks for reply. I forwarded it to the Fedora downstream bugzilla. Fedora is not rolling release distro, we like to have things stable :) But we can use snapshots and refresh it time to time. We do so with other packages as well. I understand your point of view, feel free to close this request if the new release model works for you.

We are now trying to deal with the new release model, some questions arose. Are you going to stay with this release model? Is it YYYYMMDD the current version of the software? Or is it 0.4.1.YYYYMMDD, i.e. snap after the 0.4.1 release, thus there is chance there will be 0.5.1 anytime? It's important for us to correctly change the numbering in Fedora.

Well stick with the date, which is the whole version. So, we never plan to have an 0.5.0 version.

Thanks for info. We switched to YYYYMMDD numbering scheme, Fedora update:
