Description

Provide ability to query/import-from RepeaterBook by proximity to Zip Code (or City, State), as shown on this page:

https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/prox.php

Rationale: Users in densely populated areas, and those living at the borders between counties and states, currently have to concatenate multiple RepeaterBook queries in order to import all of the repeaters in their vicinity. For example, I live at the border of three states. There are multiple counties and incorporated cities that all lie within radio range of my home. In order to figure out what counties and incorporated cities to individually query, I have to pull up Google Maps and look up many of them to determine the proximity to my home. I'm sure that others find themselves in similar situations.

Bonus: Prepend the comment section of each entry with the distance and direction (supplied by RepeaterBook) from the query location. For example, "19.3 W Manassas". If the user is on the road and headed west, they might switch to that repeater when they are having trouble reaching the one closer to their home. The distance/direction information is useful for adjusting antenna direction (where applicable) and transmit power.

Has there been any consideration of the feature I requested above? I've seen no activity on on my request since I first posted it over a month ago.

I would love to see this feature. As of now I have to enter entries in manually to accomplish this. Seems to me it would be one of the first features implemented.

It took a few months, but I now have documentation from RepeaterBook describing how to do this. Now I just need to find the time.

A couple of us have been using CHiRP lately and this feature will be most welcome. Thanks, Tom.

June 11, you gave me an example proxmity query: @https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/downloads/CHIRP/app_direct.php?loc=Tacoma, WA&dist=25&band=14@ This returns an error. Can you fix the error?

Similar queries return no results:
https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/downloads/CHIRP/app_direct.php?loc=Tacoma,%20WA&dist=25&band=14
https://www.repeaterbook.com/repeaters/downloads/CHIRP/app_direct.php?loc=Tacoma&band=14

Where we left off in June, these were returning results, but every repeater was 146.4000. If you can fix the API, it won't take long to add to Chirp.
