Description

Hi FolKs,

I'm new here. I just recently bought a BF-A58. I managed to get the program cable installed and it works fine when using the BaoFeng software. I would much rather use CHIRP, but it won't work;
ERROR: "Radio did not respond"

I'm using the correct Com port, (16)in DM and I'm choosing BF-F8HP for the radio.

I've attached the Debug.log.

Thanks to all you guys for all your hard work!!!

I accidentally uploaded the wrong debug.log. This one is correct.

I too have the same issue. The Baofeng software works but Chirp does not. I'm using Kubuntu 14.04 64bit OS but I've run into the same issue on Windows 7 as well. The new BF-A58 are tri-power as mine is. Beefy little radio! Thanks guys for all your work. Incredible job over the years!

Unfortunately these newer require the 2nd "magic" for programming and they ignore it when it is sent. If the "magic" is sent first, they respond, but then they don't identify their firmware version. For this reason, the current BF-A58 and the UV-82WP are basically incompatible with CHIRP. Sorry.

This should have been resolved with the patch for issue #3485
