Description

I just wanted to report that I was able to access my IC-2100H using the old 9 pin Serial Cable (OPC-478) using a Insignia NS-PU99501 USB to Serial Adapter. This adapter uses the Prolific chip set and worked very well. I believe it will also work with my IC-208H as well.

I had try to us the Radio Shack 20-546 USB Programming cable, but it was causing the "unexpected Response From Radio" Error Message.

Additional feedback:
Some Icom radios are known to deny cooperation with FTDI cables (even genuine ones). Please try a cable with a genuine Prolific chip.
Unfortunately cables with fake "Prolific" chips make the vast majority of cables on the market; genuine Prolific cables are on the more expensive side.
