Description
"New" model Wouxun KG-UV8T - won't read using the KG-UV8D version, so the tri-band firmware is different enough to not communicate. The OEM software does not have all the features the radio uses for programming a channel (primarily the +/- split).
I have this radio and some coding experience. I would like to get it to work with Chirp also. I have cloned the KG-UV8D and did a find and replace, but still nothing. I have to delve a little deeper into this as time permits and see if I can find what the difference is on this radio verse the KG-UV8D. I would imagine there code and communication is similar. I just need to do some reading and hopefully find another developer that can give me pointers on what to look for.
I understand that this is the same radio as Wouxun KG-UV8E but with firmware that boots up speaking English instead of Chinese. Supposedly it is a USA model, if true, this request should be associated with that other unit which has offers of equipment loans and $100 of bounty offered at this time.

There is some promising development going on to support a couple variants of this radio including the KG-UV8T. As of last night I was able to download Pavel's dev driver and read and write to my KG-UV8T. I have not fully tested every facet of the driver so there might be some bugs as of this writing, but it is pretty darn close otherwise.

It's rejected as it duplicates an ongoing effort that will bring support for this radio.
