CHIRP

I just installed a new Leixen VV-898 radio, installed Chirp, and tried to quickly configure it. It was a quick, 20 minute learning curve to do this.

I selected a number of "stock config" channels to upload. I figured out the interface of Chirp quickly enough, and chose to set each channel as a preset. I filled up all 200 channels, and the rest were in red, informing me that those would not upload.

I uploaded everything to the radio, connected the antenna and mic, and proceeded to select a presrt channel.

The following problems were noted:

1. The first 9 channels were not set. Channel 1 was a random freq. Some preset numbers (2 - 9) didn't even show up.
2. None of the even channel numbers were shown. Every other channel was fine.
3. Instead of storing about 200 preset channels, only about half, 90, were in memory.

So on Channel 10, which happened to be one I wanted anyway, everything worked on the radio. But Channel 11 skipped one and it was another "odd" channel number.

I have the latest daily, Windows 10. 20170420 is the software version.

I just loaded the software to look at my saved file image. I turned on "show Empty." It shows the random "400.10000" as channel 1, grayed out channels 2-6, and some preloaded frequencies on 7,8,9. But channels 7-9 are not correct on the radio itself.
