Bug #5193
closedBaofeng UV-5RA Reboot While Cloning
0%
Description
I have an older Baofeng UV-5RA (firmware BFB-307). I have a USB serial adapter cable, and have ensured that I am using the appropriate 3.2.0.0 driver for the cable. I can download information just fine, make changes, and save it. However, when I go to upload new settings or memory channels, cloning stops about 1/3 the way through, and the radio reboots. It then returns to the previous settings. I'm thinking the cable is not necessarily the problem, but perhaps a snag when CHIRP is uploading a new clone to the radio?

I had this same issue. After much testing I pulled the USB serial dongle and reinstalled it. Everything was happy again. Programmed up 5 more radios no issues.
I did notice that when this happened some of the frequencies that had been downloaded contained errors. Also some could not be deleted with a reset-ALL.
In the end once CHIRP and the USB dongle were happy the radio reprogrammed not problem.

My chirp and baofeng UV-5R does exactly the same thing about halfway to uploaded. Tried to delete chirp and reinstall it, and also the driver to the cabel. Not getting better, any ideas?

Confirmed that I'm having the same problem with a UV-5RA and a BF-F9V2+

Moved to another computer. Haven't confirmed the the problem is kernel or USB related but trying another machine may give better results.
I was unable to receive and program my radios.
