Description
Hi,
I'm trying to get my Baofeng UV-9R to connect, but I keep getting a message saying that there was an error sending data to the radio. I've turned the radio off and on, in frequency and channel modes, unplugged and re-plugged the cable several times. Any ideas? (Go easy on me, I'm new to this!)
Thanks!
Nick

If your programming cable has a Prolific type USB-to-TTL chip in it, have you downloaded, installed and selected the older, but compatible, Prolific v3.2.0.0 device driver? See the Miklor.com Drivers and USB Cables page for details.

Assuming you are on Windows - open the Device Manager, look for Ports(COM & LPT) and check the USB Serial Port
If you have a Prolific chip, follow Jim's tips.
If your cable has a CH340 type chip, you may have little success. I tried with the same cable and various drivers on multiple OS versions without success.
You might want to look at an "FTDI USB programming cable for UV-9Rplus". FTDI is a stable chipset that seems to work with many Baofeng UV9R variants.
Chirp should then work connected as UV-82WP, UV-82III, BF-A58 or GT-3WP.
