Description

Good afternoon,

I am the COO for Buy Two Way Radios.com. We recently introduced a new TYT radio to the world, the TYT TH-UV88. I am curious about seeing if I can send y'all a radio to get it Chirp compatible? This radio is blowing up like the UV-5R and I think it is going to eventually surpass it. I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Anthony,

I just ordered one a few days ago to give it a shot. I think it is supposed to show up this weekend.

I received the radio yesterday (4/23/2020). I charged the battery and then hooked it up to my computer. I downloaded from the radio using the factory programming software and captured the data stream using Portmon. At first glance it looks like it will take someone smarter than myself to support this radio. If I get a chance later today, I will attach the log that I captured. Maybe some other eyes looking at it will help.

It is a little late, but here is the log file a captured while downloading from the radio using the factory programming software.

I just purchased a TYT TH-UV88 as well, and I really like the feel radio. Seems a little more rugged than most Baofengs (the UV-9R Plus being the exception), and a little easier to program than Baofengs (no need to store each repeater input and output separately).

I bought two of these radios from York International Radio Store on Aliexpress and have got uploading, downloading and basic channel editting working (the protocol is a bit like the ICOM protocol but using custom commands).
Because of my lack of chirp experience for the final configuration (which I have broadly mapped I think) @Jim Tuit Unroe has agreed to help finish off.

But for those who are waiting for chirp support it shouldn't be too long now!

Thank you for working on this! Looking forward to use CHIRP to setup my new TH-UV88 soon!

Thanks to James Berry's work, a patch was submitted a few days ago and has just been approved. Support for the TYT TH-UV88 should be in the next CHIRP daily build.
