Do you mean a UV-B5? Chirp does not support a radio called "UV-5B", so that would explain the error.

Yes I mean the UV-B5 - sorry for the typo. The daily builds claimed to support this radio so that is what I was trying when I get the error.

Hi Robin,

I get the same error here sometimes. When this happens I cannot download or upload using CHIRP. It seems to happen after I write to the radio with the Baofeng software. I am guessing that some how the ident that CHIRP is looking for gets changed.

Anyway, my workaround for the time being has been to reset the radio. You do this by powering it on while the MENU button is pressed. Use the selector knob or arrow keys to change from VFO to ALL and then press the ENTER key. After the reset, I can upload my settings with CHIRP again.

It was determined that the UV-B5/B6 radios will change their 'ident' string based on certain settings selected by the user. The driver was updated to resolve this issue.
