I programmed my FT897D with a freeware utility on OSX. 20+ channels

CHIRP daily-20130411 on Fedora 16 x86_64

Download from radio thus:

CHIRP -> Radio -> Download from radio, Port /dev/ttyS0, Vender Yaesu, Model FT-857/897

"Memories" display only shows one frequency:
1 7.000000 (None) 88.5 88.5 023 etc...

Please see the image file saved, where there is clearly many channels.
