Bug #8177
closedCan not read Retevis RT22 radio with latest program release
0%
Description
I have two older retevis rt22 which are working fine. Recieved an additional 2 radios today and none ov them can be read with chirp.
Cant load my configuration to the new radios.
Have read reported issues alot and cant find a solution. Installed latest windows release as of today before even trying.
Debug log attached.
Seems to be solutions for some but no guidance how to fix it on a windows installation.

Error message is radio identification failed as in previous reports.

Ok, managed to solve it so here is the way to if someone else don't get it either.
Old RT22 connects and you save an image of that configuration.
Disconnect the old RT22 and connect a new RT22 (says RT622 behid the battery)
In chirp go to File and Load module, load the attached file by Dan Oleary (also found in issue #6747)
You can now read the new RT(6)22 (save a copy of the configuration).
Open the image from the old RT22 and write it to the radio. Radio can no longer be read whilest the module is loaded.
Restart Chirp
You can now read the newer RT22 as easy as the old ones without loading the module.
Repeat with another radio if needed.

What is the "File and Load module" in CHIRP (mentioned by Abbe Virta above)?
I do not see anything like that in any of the CHIRP menu choices.
Please help!

BTW, I am using CHIRP daily-20200807 on macOS 10.15.5

Using CHIRP daily from september. There is no File -> Load option, only File -> Open.
I did open the file retevis_rt22_butchered.py and then tried to clone my new RT622 (European version of RT22) but I only get an error message, "Radio identification failed"
