Description

Just received this radio and tried to do a download and got this error.
Cable is a Baofeng branded cable using the CH340 driver. I tried on a UV-82 and a UV-5r and it read the radios fine.
I also uninstalled chirp and tried version 20200204 with no luck.
Not sure if its a bad radio or software issue.

Can confirm on 2 new radios. Cannot retrieve image file so cannot test upload.

Baofeng must have 2 different versions of the UV-82III. The one listed in the UI is for the "waterproof" case style models (similar to BF-A58, GT-3WP, Retevis RT6, etc.). The radios you have are the tri-band UV-82 version which would use the Vendor: Radioddity | Model: UV-82X3 selections.

Correct, they are the newer tri-band versions. I just re-tried with UV-82HP selection in the UI, that one can be downloaded and also uploaded successfully!

The remaining problem is no settings can be configured in the UI after downloading the image from the radio.

Scratch last, using "UV-82" selection allows the settings to be changed as well. Thanks for the pointer!

Supported devices list should probably get a note regarding the use of UV-82 selection for USV-82 III (tri-band) radios.

I should have updated this earlier.
I'm using the UV82x3 and it works fine.

The UV-82 selection will work but won't allow 220mhz frequencies to be input into a channel. It throws an error.

That makes sense. I don't see UV82x3 in my UI on 20200909 version, but I might be a bit behind.

I'm using CHIRP daily-20200827.
Its listed as a Radioddity radio.

It isn't listed under Baofeng. You should use...

Vendor: Radioddity
Model: UV-82X3
