closedChirp daily build for MAC OS Sierra 10.12.6

Description
I have installed the python runtime package and unpacked the chirp daily build today (20.12.2020). Chirp refuses to start. This issue has been reported over the past several years, but it still does not seem to be resolved. I have looked on the internet for possible solutions including running a program from the terminal window that is supposed to let mac os give permission to start chirp:
Last login: Sun Dec 20 20:58:15 on ttys000
Davids-MBP-3:CHIRP 3.app david$ spctl --add $PWD
/Applications/AFU/CHIRP: invalid API object reference
Davids-MBP-3:CHIRP 3.app david$
I didn't work. When I start Chirp for the first time I am told that the program was downloaded from the internet and asked do I really want to execute it. Of course, I say yes. According to Finder, it is not even running in the background.
I am not a computer geek. I just want to get Chirp to work.
