I have a ZASTONE Model UV-8DR needing a driver for chirp to work. I've tried some others to no avail.

The ZASTONE Model UV-8DR is not supported by CHIRP. You will have to use the OEM software.
For an interested CHIRP volunteer developer to create a driver, a radio and working OEM programming software would need to be in possession of the developer to do the necessary reverse engineering.
