Description

I just upgraded Chirp today, and twice tried to load a file of repeaters and their "short names" into my Baofeng Bf-F8HP. Every new channel says "SIMPLEX", and the offsets aren't transferring either. This is a brand new BF-F8HP; I have another that's two years old also.

I got an error message after Chirp was finished cloning to the new radio:

"An Error has Occurred - Upload finished, but the "Other Settings" could not be sent because the firmware version of the image (N5R340BF8HP-1) does not match that of the radio (N5R340B XXXXXX)"

Any help would be much appreciated - Thanks, KM6U

This is normal and expected behavior. Chirp refuses to write an image into a radio if the firmware version doesn't match - that way, potential bricking of the radio in case of memory layout differences is avoided.

To work around that: download an image from your brand new radio, (save it!), import the image from the old one, and upload the result back into your new radio.

Let us know whether this helped. Thanks!
