Let's see if you can download an "image" from the radio. I have attached a test driver module that might do it.

Instructions for using the attached download test driver module.

  1. Save the attached driver module to a convenient location. DO NOT download by right-clicking the link.
  2. Enable Enable Developer Functions in the Help menu.
  3. Chose Load Module in the File menu.
  4. Locate and load the download test driver module that was saved in step 1.

CHIRP should now have a red background to indicate it is running with an external driver module. Try to download from your UV-9G. If successful, attach the CHIRP Radio Images (@.img@) file to this issue. *DO NOT TRY TO DO ANYTHING ELSE. If not successful, close CHIRP and attach the debug.log file to this issue and optionally describe the exact error message, if any.

Bill,

Thank you for assistance with providing the UV-9G "image". I will try to find time to look at it this evening.

Bill,

Give this a try. I think it has all but one thing that I intended to add. The thing remaining has to do with the TX power levels. Would you answer the following question: Does menu 2 (TXP) have 2 choices (HIGH/LOW) or 3 choices (HIGH/MED/LOW)?

If you have some other so-called "waterproof" like radios (GT-3WP, UV-9R, BF-A58, Retevis RT6, etc), check them as well to make sure I didn't break the support for them.

Three choices (High, Mid, Lo). I'll give the app a try later and get back to you. The UV-9G is the only waterproof radio I have.

That's good news. All of the pictures in the listings I have looked at indicate the radio only has 2 TX power levels but the OEM software has support for 3. Also the "image" that you supplied would indicate that it had support for 3. The demo driver module that I attached also has support for 3 (on the frequencies that permit it).

Hi Jim -

The demo driver module works like a charm. Thank you!
