Description

Would love to loan my radio to you. I'm also a Java Programmer myself. I would be interested in doing the programming for this radio with a bit of guidance.

Hi Mike,

I'd be glad to help you get started with Chirp development. Yaesus tend to all be very similar, which makes them pretty easy and a good starting point. Inheriting @YaesuCloneModeRadio@ will likely allow you to get a memory dump from the radio. Start with Developers and let me know where you have questions.

Can I help? Have FT1DR.

The stock USB cable presents as 0584:b03a RATOC System, Inc.

The FT1DR also allows save/restore of state directly to an SD card. With the (crufty) ADMS software that actually appears to be the better path for programming, though I don't know how well it would play with Chirp.

Browsing code now (vx8.py and yaesu_clone.py). Will probably try a pass myself over the next few weeks.

I assume I should direct questions to the devel list rather than any specific developer.

I pulled the adapter apart and found a stock FTDI chip inside. The patch to support this in the kernel is trivial; just need to add the USB ids to the existing ftdi_sio driver. I manually added the ID to the kernel at run time and the device was at least recognised, but it doesn't do anything useful for me yet.
