Any plans to support the K3?

Does the K3 have memory channels worthy of programming with CHIRP? If so, I'd love to do it, although I don't know of anyone willing to loan me their K3 for a while. If you think this would be useful to a range of folks, you might talk to the elecraft people about a "development sample". I do have a KX3 on order, so if it makes sense, I'll add that when I get it as well.

Yes, the K3 has memory channels in fact, there is a memory manager software on the Elecraft site. The problem is it is klunky software....nowhere as flexible as CHIRP.
I would be glad to loan you my K3, problem is I am in St. Pete Beach, Fl. As you probably know, the K3 is very open source. Would the source code for their memory manager help in lieu of a K3? Thanks

KX3 support would be great, because the Elecraft KX3 Utility on MacOS does not handle memories.

The K3 and KX3 have a very similar API, and both radios should be supportable with one driver. The fact that Elecraft documents the API should be a big help, compared to most radios. Both the K3 and KX3 are primarily HF radios, where memory channels are less frequently used than the typical VHF/UHF radios, but these radios have the facility to memorize channels, CTCSS tones, offsets, and the normal stuff that CHIRP supports. They also support 6m natively and 2m via transverters, so channels for FM repeaters are useful there.
I own a KX3, and may eventually start to work on this project. But I am currently working on the CHIRP driver for the Yaesu FT-2900. There are several missing features to that driver. And my volunteer time is limited. I'm not going to commit to a schedule for doing the K3/KX3 driver at this time, but if I do it, it'll probably be late 2015? If someone finds this note and has interest in it, please contact me. By the time you read this, I may already be working on it.

Some years back an effort was made to document the K3's memory layout and data structures. Also written was a C program to read/write the memories which I have not tried. The information is in the following GitHub repository:

which has not seen an update for nearly seven years. My understanding is that the information has been gathered independently of Elecraft as to my knowledge Elecraft has not publicly released any documentation regarding the actual memories. There are CAT commands to select a memory bank and channel, as I recall, but not to actually read or write the memories.
I do have a K3 with which to test though I cannot loan it out as it is my daily driver.
