Description

Since change from Win 7 to Win 8.1 I only get the attached message/Debug log. The program itself doesn't start at all.
This is allways reproducable.

Disable the Windows 8.x "SmartScreen":http://www.miklor.com/COM/UV_CHIRP.php#LoadingCHIRP feature.

Hello, Jim,
unfortunally no effect. After disabling the SmartScreen, CHIRP doesn't start after showing this message (even after a reboot).

Is your Windows 8.1 user name different than your Windows 7 user name was. You don't have have a "ü" or an "ö" or something similar in your user name, do you?

Hello, Jim,

pity.... yes, I do have :-(
But I didn't pay any attention to this, because the "debug.log" is placed there, so I assuemed that CHIRP can access this folder correctly. Also I did not take the installer but the ZIP-file to avoid those problems...
Is there any way to cheat CHIRP to look for or generate this file in an other folder?

Kai,

See Bug #272

You have a couple of choices...

  1. You could create another user without any special characters to run CHIRP under.
  2. You could use "CHIRP LiveCD":http://sourceforge.net/projects/chirplivecd/
