Hi Yaron, All that is needed is a developer with this radios at hand to test and the time to do it.

I'm the developer for the recent bunch of Kenwood's radios added to Chirp and that was because that Kenwoods are very common here, unfortunately I'm in Cuba and sending the radio to me is not an option (yet).

Maybe if you offer a radio to loan some other developer can pick up the task.

PS: The Kenwood TK-790 is waiting to be done in my desk (lack of free time here)

Hi Pavel,

I would be happy to loan a Kenwood Radio in this family (Can loan TK-880 and/or TK-981) to a local developer.

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area (San Jose, California) and can be reached at k6yop@arrl.net

If you know of anyone local here, please put us in touch,

Thanks
and I hope to visit Cuba some day soon,

Yaron - K6YOP

  • Equipment Loan/Gift Offered changed from No to Yes

Your offer was sent to the Chirp developers list with some comments from me.

I you manage to get a trip to Cuba let me know to see if we can get in touch here; I'm seeing POTUS making tourism by the old Havana here by the TV, who nows!

Any new updates on this topic? I've got a TK-280 and the kenwood software is not very user friendly.

Hi to all,

I'm working remotely with a willing user to get a serial log one of this radios in family, specifically the TK-280.

My goal is to make at least a successful download/upload script and parse the general channel data for this model (TK-280), my experience points that making support for one member of the family will make trivial to extend it to the rest of the family; by looking to the OEM software the whole family will be:

TK-780/880/280/380/980/981/480/481

Further development (beyond upload/download and simple channel data) will be very unlikely from my side as I don't have a radio at reach to test and hack.

Users of the Kenwood TK-280: if you like your radio supported please upload some portmon logs -to this thread- to issue #4395, instructions for doing that here: http://chirp.danplanet.com/attachments/2257/how%20to%20portmon.doc

EDIT: the development of the TK-280 will follow in it's own issue here #4395
