Description
I have 2 New (2016) BF-888s Plus radios. I have tried everything to get these radios to programme. My older BF-888s programme perfectly. Tried ch 16 etc.

I get the "Radio refused to enter programming mode" error. If I swap over to my old 888s it connects and clones with no issues.

Adam,
The "BF-480 for BF-A & K series" software from the Baofeng website is the OEM software used to program the BF-888s. I am assuming that the "480_Plus_Setup" software would be the OEM software used to program the BF-888s Plus.
If this is correct, the BF-888s Plus requires that "\x50\xBB\xFF\x20\x12\x07\x31\x02" is sent to the radio to initiate cloning. CHIRP sends "PROGRAM" to the BF-888s radio since that is what it requires". That being the case, it would be expected that the BF-888s Plus would refuse to enter program mode.
So basically CHIRP does not support the BF-888s Plus.
To be able to add support for the BF-888s to CHIRP would require that someone with the BF-888s Plus capture the transfer between the radio and computer using the OEM software. That way the protocol can be analyzed and reverse engineered. The best way to do this is by using Portmon on a computer running a 32-bit version of MS Windows.

Also the BF-888s PLUS says it is for- 400 - 480... I was able to program into the 471+ for some FD monitoring. So this is true.
