Description

I am able to download an accurate image from the radio but when trying to write the same image back to the radio it will error bad cable. I did try to do a complete reset of the radio and then upload but that did not change the issues.

The cable is a custom cable using an Arduino uno for the built in FTDI.

The radio is stock unmoded.

Thank you for the hard work and the software.
Garrett

So, you're using the USB-to-serial of the arduino to write to the radio? Are you buffering it in software or just using the pins directly?
If the former, I'm sure you're breaking the timing, to which yaesu radios are fatally sensitive. If the latter, do you have the TX and RX pins tied together? IIRC, that cable echoes and the radio will fail to understand the inbound image if it can't properly read and discard its own ack bytes.

Regardless, it's hard to call this a CHIRP bug when you're in such an atypical situation...

Thank you for the quick reply. I agree this is not a CHIRP bug, just did not find a better place to post. No additional software is being used to buffer. It is a direct pin connection with TX and RX tied together. I did not know about the echo.

I should have just done it the right way and pickup a proper cable. I will do that and try again later.

Thank you,
Garrett
