Hi Jim,
I just received in the mail yesterday 3 brand new Baofeng UV-5R radios. Their serial numbers are very close together within 10. All report firmware version BFB298 (I guess that doesn't mean much?). I'm using the latest build of CHIRP.
So here's what happened. I downloaded the codeplug from the first radio, edited it with all of the repeaters, channels, settings, etc. and then uploaded it to the radio. Everything worked great. I was able to read the new codeplug off of this radio and confirm that everything programmed correctly. I then unpacked the second radio, and burned the same codeplug into it. I got an error message which you can see as I attached a screen shot. When I went to read the second radio, it appears that all of the frequency information got programmed, but when I went to check the settings, there was nothing there at all, a blank page.
I did a little reading on your web site, and it sound to me like the img got corrupted somehow, so I reset the radio, downloaded the reset img file, and attached it also to this report for you to examine. If you need any further information please let me know.
The only thing I could think that may have happened, is that somehow the codeplugs are only valid for the radio that you downloaded it from? This seems like a major inconvenience when programming batches of radios. I hope this is not the case. I know that this has not been the case using CHIRP and other Baofeng radios. I'll be curious to hear what you think happened and what you think a fix is.
