Description
Just received the new UV-XR model
Don't see anything comparable/specific to this model
It is a tri-power. Can I use the BF-F8HP for programming.
Don't have my programming cable yet, few more days.
Anything as to new features specific to this model that would
warrant a dedicated page for down/upload.

This looks to be just another one of many so-called "waterproof" variants. Try BF-A58 if it only supports 6 character channel names, UV-9R if it supports 7 character channel names.
