Description
Goodmorning,
I have a UV-5R radio and i try to use chirp to program it.I can download from radio(so the communication is right) but i can not upload....i Had an excel file which i converted it to CSV and to DAT files.I tried both ways but it does not work.I tried both in windows 10 and Ubuntu 18.04...
- Status changed from New to Feedback
- Target version set to chirp-legacy
- Model affected changed from (All models) to Baofeng UV-5R
- Platform changed from Windows to Linux
It's hard from your description to see what might have gone wrong. Please see the Wiki article "How To Report Issues" and provide a debug log as described there. Thank you!

CHIRP typically does not use DAT files from other radio programming software.
When using a CSV file, it must be in the proper format for CHIRP. You can't just upload any random CSV file into CHIRP.
A good way to see how a CSV file should be formatted would be to download from your radio and then export the newly created tab to a CSV file. Then you can examine the CSV file in a text editor or other compatible CSV file program (a spreadsheet program for example) to see how it is formatted.

When i am trying to save the file that i downloaded from radio i am allowed to save it only as img. file and not CSV....do you have any proper CSV file to send me to use it as basis?
thanks
You can export (different menu item from "save as") as CSV within Chirp. Please try that and let us know.
