Bug #7939
closedRadioddity GA-510 download reverses tones and changes Tone Modes
0%
Description
Downloading the Radioddity GA-510 into CHIRP results in the Transmit CTCSS tones being transposed into the Receive CTCSS fields and the "Tone Mode" for type "Tone" is changed to "Cross". Additionally the "Cross Mode" is then set to "->Tone". Additionally, DTCS Tones are reversed between "DTCS Code" and "DTCS Rx Code" for "Cross" mode "DTCS->DTCS".

I received the GA-510 today and can confirm that with CHIRP the CTCSS tones are being transposed exactly as per the original report. The RadioOddity CPS does upload and download the CTCSS tones correctly.

Hi Dan, I just loaded the .py module and did a download from the radio. CTCSS tones and tone squelch settings were correct in CHIRP. I then uploaded the data back to the radio amd the CTCSS and tone squelch settings are now correct. I did not test DCS as I do not have any channels with DCS programmed.
Thanks! John

Correction: My previous report was premature. The channels which had tone on TX and RX in the radio did not come in set to "cross", they came in as "TSQL". The channels that had tone on TX only downloaded to CHIRP correctly. When I switched to "cross" and set the tones frequencies correctly in CHIRP I was able to upload them to the radio and they were correct.

John,
That's the way it is supposed to be. Setting Tone Mode to TSQL and ToneSql to the appropriate CTCSS tone sets up the channel to TX the selected tone and sets up the radio's squelch to require that same to the be present on the received signal to open the squelch. You would only use "Cross Mode" if the CTCSS tones were not the same both ways (TX and RX). So CHIRP notices how it was programmed and switched it to the way it should have been.

Ah understood, thanks. Will this patch be incorporated in a release? Or should I load it every time I use CHIRP with this radio?

John,
This was the reason for the 20200909 release. So it has already incorporated into CHIRP.

Please DO NOT attach the manufacturer's software. See the First things first! section of the "How To Report Issues":https://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/How_to_report_issues documentation page.
