Description

When BOTH "CTCSS Decode" and "CTCSS Encode" are set in a memory (in the radio) and the memories are read FROM the radio, the information is lost (i.e. TSQL is NOT set in the Chirp spreadsheet). If ONLY "CTCSS Encode" is set in the radio, then "Tone" is correctly set in Chirp.

Hi Michele,

This is because after you set CTCSS Decode and CTCSS Encode to the desired CTCSS tones, you must also edit the per-channel Signal setting (Squelch Mode in the Retevis programming software) to CDT (CTCSS/DCS in the Retevis programming software) as shown in section 8.6 (page 22) of the Retevis RT 95 Instruction Manual. If Signal is left set to SQ (Carrier in the Retevis programming software), CHIRP assumes that you don't want tones enabled and brings the channel in with Tone Mode set to (None).

Thanks Jim,
since the radio was working as expected despite the squelch being set to "carrier", I completely overlooked that setting.

Michele,

I had to hook up my RT95 and do some digging to figure out what was going on. These are the first models that I've run across that require this extra step. At least CHIRP knows to enable this setting when setting Tone Mode is set to TSQL.
