uv-5r memory zero keeps defaulting to 136.025

Description
I have a UV5ra 293 ver and a uv5r ver 297. Both radios worked great then 1st the 5Ra then a few weeks later the 5R would change the freq in memory space zero and all other data except the channel name to default values and 136.025 freq. reset and down loaded my files again(each radio had it's factory base file downloaded and saved then each modified and the appropriate file uploaded to radio. reloaded files :few days later memory 000 back to 136 mhz. tried different freqs (uhf and VHF) no joy after a time each radio goes back to 136.025 but the name stays. tried ooo freq in mem zero but will not let me do that (factory default in both radios were
000.00)need something in freq range of radio. Any ideas? do you need more info ?
also first radio to go wacky was kept in my mobile(a 2010 Toyota Prius with MEGA noise on both Vhf and Uhf) and also this started in very cold weather so I thought either the car or temp swings were culprit but then the 2nd radio (mostly a house bound rig) started going wacky also. So I'm leaning away from outside influences somehow getting into the memory settings of radio

I've seen some UV-5R radios act rather strangely when their memory gets corrupted. Would you attach a CHIRP .img from each? I'd like to take a look at them to see if I can see something out of the ordinary. If one radio got corrupted and you downloaded from it and then uploaded it to the other radio, it is possible that the corruption was also transferred.
To attempt a repair, first go here and download the "BFBxxx Reset.img" files that match your firmware versions (xxx is the firmware version number).

Note that all firmware versions newer that BFB297 masquerade as BFB297. You will have to look at the CHIRP Settings -> Other Settings menu to see what the 'real' firmware version is. If Firmware Message 1 is " Ver " then Firmware Message 2 is your firmware version. If Firmware Message 1 is "BFBxxx " then Firmware Message 1 is your firmware version.
Load your original channels and settings for the radio you are working on into CHIRP. Then load the matching reset file for that radio. Transfer the channels from the original image to the reset image. Adjust any settings that you want/need for your radio and then upload the edited reset image to your UV-5R. Hopefully this will take care of your issue. If it does, you don't ever want up upload your original image to the radio because it will return the memory back to its corrupted state.
