Added by Andrew Laughton over 3 years ago.
Updated over 3 years ago.
Model affected:
Anytone AT-778UV
I read the instructions above:
Description
Radio version not in allowed list for AnyTone-778UV: 000: 49 37 37 38 55 56 2d 50 I778UV-P
008: 01 56 31 30 30 00 00 06 .V100...
The above error code was generated when trying to download from a Anytone 778UV radio.

Hi Andrew,
You are choosing the wrong model. Your radio is the latest version with VOX, so you must choose the model with VOX.
Vendor: AnyTone
Model: 778UV VOX

In the Linux version, neither the 778UV or the 778UV VOX appear in the drop down menu.

Look at the debug.log file. It will tell you that the required "python-future" package is missing. It is required by 5 CHIRP drivers including the one that supports the AnyTone AT-778UV radios (anytone778uv.py).

Hi Bernhard
The radio I have is not labelled VOX, but choosing the VOX radio option allowed me to connect to it, so yes it connects and works, but not with the model written on the radio.

AnyTone (and other vendors with variants) changed the radio without changing the model name. CHIRP had to make adjustments for the newer model that were not compatible between the original and new models so the selection for the new model had to be called something different. The major change to the newer radio was the inclusion of VOX, so VOX was added to the model selection. Unlike the original radio, your radio includes the VOX option, right? That's why it requires the model selection with "VOX".

Hi Jim
First of all, thank you very much for your time and efforts, it is very much appreciated especially as it is the only software that I could get to work. I have not used the VOX option and you are probably right.
However it is not so clear to any new users such as myself that this other "model" should be tried.
I respectfully suggest that the original model be called 778UV (1), and the new version be called 778UV (2). This way any new users are more likely to try to connect using both models before either giving up or raising a support request. It might be only me, but I confused AT-778UV VOX for a model I did not have.

A VOX version of the Retevis RT95 was donated to me (thanks Retevis). I will be using this radio to develop code that will detect when a radio model supporting VOX has been identified by CHIRP but the user has selected the non-VOX model. If successful, CHIRP will suggest the proper model for the user to select.
Currently affects AnyTone AT-778UV/AT-778UV VOX, CRT Micron UV/Micron UV V2 and Retevis RT95/RT 95 VOX.
