Bug #9884
closedBaoFeng BF-F8HP need to expand locations in .img file

Description
Hello,
I am trying to load a new .CSV file into an .img file so I can upload it to my radio.
Unfortunately, the channel locations only go to 127. I need 400 plus locations because I am using it through multiple states on a trip.
Is there a .img file available that has more than 127 locations available? or can I modify root properties to expand the existing one?
Thank you,
Kevin

The BF-F8HP's memory only supports 128 channels (numbered 0 through 127). The CHIRP "image" (@*.img@) file is a dump or "snapshot" of the BF-F8HP's memory. It's layout is determined by the radio and cannot by altered by CHIRP. Since the radio's memory only supports 128 channels, CHIRP can only support 128 channels.
You will have to break your more than 400 channels into groups of no more than 128 channels and swap them out as you travel, get a CHIRP supported radio that natively supports more than 400 channels, or have multiple BF-F8HP like radios each storing a different set of 128 channels and swap between them as you travel.

Chirp cannot make the radio do things it doesn't support.
The BF-F8HP supports 128 channels, no more.
Jim's suggestion is the best you can do.
