This was fixed in today's build (20230207). You don't have to test the file.

Thank you for the (faster than mine!) fast response!
I "Downloaded" the radio's channels, loaded a UV-BF-F8HP copied all and pasted it to the UV-9R Pro, and "uploaded" it.
as it pasted, it became 6 digits (truncated the 7th digit in the channel name).
I tried this with a .img file and a .csv file, and got the same results.
I did not, though, try your 7th char modded file...

Yes. Unfortunately there are radios that support 6 characters (like yours and mine) and apparently some radios that support 7 characters (the latest OEM software allows 7 characters to be entered). So I added the ability to enter 7 character names. If your radio supports it, you will see all 7 characters. If your radio doesn't support it, then it will be truncated to 6 (that's why I wanted the test done 7 months ago). CHIRP can't make a radio do anything it can't do.

But since I don't have a radio that displays 7 characters, I couldn't physically test it with a radio. So test the "7th character modded file" just to make sure I didn't miss something in the code.

Well!!!
Your 7 char file works! 'course I cannot edit the 7th character in the app. I'm now using the MacOS version.
It shows in the app, it uploads to the radio, and it displays on the radio.
I then pasted (without saving) over the 7 char file with a UV-F8HP file. It copied, and loaded to the radio. The file still had the "7" in the seventh place, and the radio programmed that way. I'd say it's an app problem. The Dev area "Info" shows 6 for "valid_name_length" but I cannot change it...

My bad. It was the UV-6R that I just set to allow 7 characters. I will try to get this submitted tonight.

Despite me being "not here" for months, I'm really impressed with you-all. Thank you for the effort!
On a different note, and subject (not a request, just a comment) I just got a Baofeng BF-H7. I programmed it with Radioddity GA-510, and it worked! There is a request in already to formally add the BF-H7, so I didn't comment...
