Unable to enter the "Settings" tab
Hello. I found an error in the operation of the program. When programming the frequencies for the "Baofeng BF-T1" radio.
- Perform a "reset all" on the radio. Restoring to the factory settings;
- Read the parameters from the radio by selecting the appropriate parameters;
- correct the required frequencies and parameters in the "Memories" tab;
- correct the required parameters in the "Settings" tab;
Load data into the radio station (Alt+U).
When reading data from the radio station again, everything works fine.
But. If you turn on the radio (by pressing the "FM" key) and then turn it off. When reading the data from the station - it is impossible to enter the tab "Settings". In this case the following error appears on the screen: "Value 4545.1000 not in range 65.0000-108.0000" (see photo attachment "bf-t1_err.JPG").
I am also attaching two log files:
chirp_debug-gfesdyfc__read1.txt - tab "Settings" functions. Log-file downloaded before pressing "FM" key on the radio station.
chirp_debug-gfesdyfc__read2.txt - tab "Settings" is functioning. Log file downloaded before pressing "FM" key on the radio station.
chirp_debug-gfesdyfc__read3.txt - tab "Settings" is NOT functioning. Log file downloaded after pressing "FM" key on the radio station.
Also noticed, that when programming frequencies (tab "Settings-FM Radio-FM Station") the parameter "105.9000" is always set (see photo "bf-t1_set.JPG"). Load the data into the radio station. Then press key "FM" on the radio station to display "108.100" (see photo "bf-t1_displ.JPG").
Would not change the FM frequency (in the range of 76 - 108 MHz). When reading data by CHIRP. The tab "Settings-FM Radio-FM Station" always shows "105.9000".
The computer in use is running Windows 10. The version of CHIRP next-20230313.

It would seem that Baofeng has new vendors for the FM chip in these radio and there is now a 3rd method of storing the broadcast FM frequency in these radios. I recently fixed this issue for the so-called "waterproof" radios (BF-A58, UV-9R, etc) and another driver.
If you would attach a minimum of 2 CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) files with the only difference between them being the selected broadcast FM frequency, I will take a look at it.

I have added files (*.img)
- Baofeng_BF-T1_20230315_GOOD.img - file in which the "Settings" tab functions.
- Baofeng_BF-T1_20230315__NOT-good.img - the file in which the tab "Settings" does not work.
If necessary, I can send you a photo of the radio (Baofeng BF-T1) disassembled. With a good readability of the elements on the board. Do you need it?

No. What I need is for you to set the FM frequency to something at the radio. Download it into CHIRP and save it with the frequency in the name and attach it to this issue. Then do it at least one more time with a different frequency. I just need it programmed by the radio itself and I need to know what frequency has been programmed.

This is what I did. In the file "Baofeng_BF-T1_20230315__NOT-good.img" I set the frequency manually. 107.0 MHz.
- Status changed from New to In Progress
- Assignee set to Jim Unroe
- Target version set to chirp-py3

Please test the attached draft driver module. It should support this new FM frequency storage method. See the following wiki page.

It doesn't work. CHIRP version next-20230315. Shows the following: "No module found in issue 10445"
Jim, I think you forgot to attach the file? There's no module in this issue that I can see.

That is certainly possible. It wouldn't be the first time that I missed that step. 2nd try.
Partially working.
- The "Settings" tab is functional.
- The FM radio frequency is always 107.0000. And it cannot be changed - it gives an error. Even when I changed the frequency on the radio manually, the result in the CHIRP software is always 107.0000MHz.

You can't reset CHIRP. When you do, the test module is no longer present in CHIRP. The whole time you test, the upper left corner of the CHIRP window must display **Module Loaded**.

I got that! I start the module every time I start the CHIRP programme. I didn't have any questions in that direction.

You have to make sure that you have a frequency in your radio that was generated by your radio. You can't have a frequency that was created by the "old" CHIRP and uploaded to your radio. It won't work and probably won't display properly. So select 101.0 in the radio and then go back to 105.0. Now download from your radio into CHIRP. CHIRP should now correctly display 105.0. You should now be able to edit to a different frequency and upload it back to your radio.

It turned out to be simpler than that. I figured it out. In the "FM Station" tab, there is a number with four digits after the dot (101. 1000 ). In order for the software to accept my correction and be able to write it into the radio, I need to enter no more than one character after the decimal point (105. 7 ). And then everything works.

That was a good observation. I have submitted a patch based on this module. It should be available in the next CHIRP-next build.
Thanks your your help with testing this. My Baofeng BF-T1 uses the original frequency storage method so I couldn't use it for testing this different method.
