Description

**I received my new Quansheng UV-5r plus.

I used CHIRP version 20240312 and i get message FIRMWARE NOT SUPPORTED.

Loaded new Chirp along with new radio. My cable has a CH3040 chipset but when it comes to communcating with radio it states firmware not supported.

Even managedto get CH341SER file and it still does not seem to wish to communicate between radio and PC.

Do you have the radio in programming mode? It should not be in programming mode, meaning while connected to the computer and asking chirp to connect to it, the radio's screen should look normal (not blank or anything like that).

Okay then it's related to #11212 I guess. Someone with one of these new radios will have to investigate.

Attempting to download from my Quansheng UV-5R Plus which I have download from before, also fails with a "Firmware 'k5_4.00.01' not supported" (log attached). Either the check for the firmware version is new, or the firmware version for the UV-5R Plus was changed/removed.

I don't know if the '4.00' prefix in the driver is missing the "k5_" or not so I added the 'k5_4.00.' prefix to the attached demo driver and it works for my radio which was acquired in October 2023. Follow these instructions to give it a test: LoadingTestModules

Jim, yeah, that one just needs a new blessed firmware in the whitelist. We should do that but it's really a different issue than this one. Can you open another bug for that?
