Unable to connect icom 92ad via usb serial adaptor

I havent been able to get the 92ad to connect to chirp using the ICOM programing cable and a usb to serial adapter. Unfortunately I do not have a serial port on the PC so I have to use the convertor. The Converter and radio connect using the ICOM software. I have tried 2 different usb to serial adapters and haven't been able to get either to work. Chirp sees the com port open and tried to download the data but just fills the fields with ERROR. I then tried to use the mac version and I do not see the proper comm ports. All I see is the Bluetooth ports. Any suggestions or ideas how to resolve this issue would be apprecated.

CHIRP works just fine with USB adapters.. That's all I use with my 92AD. Have you tried making sure that the 92AD is on an analog channel on band A in single mode? It's not necessary to always have it in that condition, but it helps eliminate some complications that DV mode can introduce. The Icom software is able to counteract these situations, but CHIRP does not at the moment.
The problem with your Mac is that you don't have the required drivers installed. Please see the documentation, mailing list archives, etc for help with that.
I have tried your suggestion and still unable to capture any data. I even set it to Band A VFO to make sure it wasnt a channel setting but still no luck

I assume you're choosing the COM port you see assigned to your USB adapter in Device Manager, correct?
Have you tried the latest daily build?
Yes using proper comm port, even changed ports in case something else was conflicting. Attached is debug log
What is the part number of the cable you're using?
I'm looking for the Icom cable's part number (OPC-XXXX)

Okay, well, that's an important thing to check for sure. If it's not that cable, then it won't work. CHIRP is getting zero response from the radio. The ways that can happen is:
- Wrong cable
- Bad cable or connection
- Radio is in GPS mode
- Wrong serial port selected
- Something else has the serial port open at the same time.
The 92AD is heavily used by other CHIRP users, so I feel pretty confident that it has to be something in the list above to cause a complete lack of communication with the radio.
