Bug #375
closedSupport IC-V80?

Description
I would love to see support of IC-V80. I may be able to lend a radio, but link to the contact page per FAQ appears broken.
BTW - I am a hardware/software professional and might help, but am not familiar with your environment, Linux tools, etc. But I should be able to run logs etc if that were useful.

Please join the chirp_devel mailing list and we'll get you going with development environment help. We'd be glad to have you write a driver for it, and Icoms are generally very easy.
Thanks!

I'd be glad to do this. I can only find reference on your site to a user's mailing list, can't find one for devs.

OK, when one joins the users list, it does show info for other lists. I have joined. Next step?

So you found chirp_devel? It's here if not:
http://chirp.danplanet.com/projects/chirp/wiki/Developers
Once you get joined to that, shoot an email to the list saying what you're looking to do (add IC-V80 support) and that you want to get a development environment set up, which OS you're running, etc. I (or someone) will reply and get you going.
Thanks!

Installed develop env. First step was my assumption that the radio is very close to the IC-T70. I tried to download from the radio assuming this model and got...
Clone thread started:
This model: 000: 32 54 00 01
Supp model: 000: 32 53 00 01
I assume that is some type of model ID string. Does that help?

Dan,
Can you resent your email on how to get started. It looks like the info was dropped off the front of that email thread or something, I no longer have it.

I sent this to the mailing list a few days ago. The archives live forever:
