Description

Hello --
I read in your Wiki that the Baofeng GT-5TP can be programmed using the UV-82HP radio settings. When I do this, I receive an Incorrect Model error message. The Baofeng radio then reboots. Attached is the log file. Any help that you can give would be much appreciated.

Unfortunately your radio is reporting to CHIRP with a firmware version that indicates it is a radio with 2 power levels, not 3. Does the TXP menu give you 3 power level choices?

Hello -- I looked at the TXP menu and there is an option for Low, Mid, and High. Thank you so much

Howard,

Please test this modified uv5r.py driver. It should be able to download from your radio. Please save the first successful download to a native CHIRP Radio Images (*.img) file and attache it to this issue. I want to do some testing with it.

You must click on this file and choose "download" for the next page that appears. DO NOT right-click and choose "Save file as..." because it will not download the file you are trying to get.

To use this file, enable the "Enable Developer Functions" in the Help menu. This will add a "Load Module" selection in the File menu. Use this to load the test file that I attached to this issue.

Note: This driver does not permanently alter you CHIRP installation in any way. You will have to load it every time you re-start CHIRP whenever you intend to program your radio.

Hi Jim --
Thank you very much for the fix. It seems to work correctly. Attached is the image file for this radio.

Thanks again

  • Target version set to 0.5.0
  • Chirp Version changed from 0.4.0 to daily
  • Model affected changed from (All models) to GT-5TP
  • Platform changed from Windows to All

Thanks for the image. It has allowed me to do some testing to make sure that the older UV-5R style radios with N5R2407 firmware weren't going to be detected as a BF-F8HP. Seems to be OK so I will go ahead and submit a formal patch.
