CHIRP

Once I change the model as instructed I had the same issue. I decided to try a zip code that is not in my county. I was able to pull data from Birmingham. It uploaded to my radio just fine.

My next question would be why does no zip code on Dekalb County AL work when Jefferson County AL does?

I would also like to add that Radio Reference has listings of frequencies for Dekalb County AL

I just commented on which was the correct Vendor/Model selection to use. The Vendor/Model selection has nothing to do with Radio Reference support. The use of the Radio Reference query requires a paid account. I don't have one so I can't offer any support with that.

However for those with a paid account, you can export the Radio Reference data to a CSV file. It may be easy to modify it into a CHIRP compatible CSV file and import it that way.

I have thought of manually typing in the information from RR into an empty form on Chirp. Also though of trying to convert the csv. My problem is if I try converting I am not sure what a Chirp compatible CSV would or what parameters to input of done manually. The two have different column titles in most cases

The simplest way to understand what a CHIRP compatible CSV file should look like is to program (or import) some working channels and then export them to a CSV file. The CSV file can then be examined in a text editor or spreadsheet program like MS Excel or LibreOffice Calc. This will show you the correct column header names and data formats.

Most channels acquired from RadioReference will be for receive only purposes. When this is the case, all you need is the Frequency field set to the receive frequency and the Duplex field set to "off".
