Description
Good morning all I am a Linux user and I would like to program my new Yaesu FT 65 using the Linux version of chirp. However when I look at the dropdown menu in Linux the FT 65 is not present. But when I look at the Windows version the drop down menu shows the FT 65. Am I doing something wrong? Is the FT 65 not supported in Linux?

Check the CHIRP version on the Help -> About window. My guess is that your Linux computer has a very old version of CHIRP installed. The version of CHIRP on your Windows computer is newer.

Ok, but I have re-installed chirp and it should download a never version despite which Linux version I am using.

It would be nice if that was the case. In reality, it depends greatly on which Linux distribution you are using and how you installed CHIRP.
Some Linux distributions, if you install CHIRP using their software manager, will install a version of CHIRP that is nearly a decade old. This is because they only install what used to be called the CHIRP "stable" build. This build is no longer provided and these Linux distributions don't supply the CHIRP "daily" build which are now the current "official" releases. If the version in Help -> About is v0.4.x or v0.3.x, etc., then this is the problem. The latest "stable" build (v0.4.1) was released back in October of 2014.
Many recent Linux distributions have dropped support for Python2 and other CHIRP dependencies (distributions based on Ubuntu 20.xx for example). It if for this reason that the CHIRP daily flatpak build was created. It brings along the necessary dependencies (except the "future") that the CHIRP build requires.
If you tracked down all of the CHIRP dependencies and installed CHIRP using the tarball build, then you will have to manually download (or use a script) to update CHIRP.

Is this one of those issues where something don't appear because python-future is not installed on the system? I can see both Yaesu FT 65R and 65R in the Linux flatpak version.

Good thought, but 'python future' is not currently required by any Yaesu radio models.
